Top 10 Lady Finger Producing States in India – Leading Okra Producers

Gujarat tops the list in the okra producing states in India with a total production of 1,133.08 thousand tons. Gujarat contributes 15.51 percent of the total bhindi production in India.
Madhya Pradesh ranks 2nd in bhindi production in India, producing 965.48 thousand tons of Okra. Jabalpur, Ratlam, Dewas and Gwalior are the major Okra producing districts. It contributes a share of 13.22 percent.
West Bengal produced 954.95 thousand tons of lady’s finger, accounting for 13.07% of India’s total production. Prabhani Kranti and Pusa mukhmali are the popular bhindi varieties in the state.
Bihar ranks four in the bhindi production with a production of total of 810.70 thousand tons in the country with a share of 11.10%. Muzaffarpur, Samastipur and Patna are the main okra-producing regions.
Andhra Pradesh holds the fifth spot in the list with a total bhindi production of 732.35 thousand tons and a total 10.02% share. People eat Arka Anamikavand Arka Nikita type of varieties here.
With a total okra production of 863.73 thousand tons in India, Odisha contributes 9.36 % share of the total bhindi production. Cuttack and Puri districts are the major Bhindi-producing regions in Odisha.
The next state in the top lady finger states is Uttar Pradesh. It produced 360.09 thousand tons okra contributing a share of 4.93%. Meerut district is known for producing the best lady fingers.
On the eighth spot, we have Chhattisgarh which has a total okra production of 347.67 thousand tons. This accounts for 4.76% share. Raipur and Bilaspur districts are the major Okra-producing regions in Chhattisgarh.
Assam is the ninth largest Okra producing state in India. Nagaon and Kamrup are the popular districts. The state has 231.55 thousand tons bhindi production with a 3.17% share of the total production.
Last but not least, we have Tamil Nadu which has the total okra production of 220.51 thousand tons. This accounts for 3.02% share of the country’s total Bhindi production. Coimbatore is the major bhindi producing region.
