Top Banana Producing States in India: Leaders in Fruit Farming

Maharashtra is known for a wide variety of bananas in India including Robusta, Dwarf Cavendish and Safed Velchi Musa. The state produced a total of 4223.05 thousand metric tonnes banana in India.
Andhra Pradesh tops the list with 5834.70 thousand metric tonnes banana production. The popular varieties found in the country are Robusta, Rasthali, Karpuravalli and Poovan.
The total production of bananas in Tamil Nadu stands at 3895.65 thousand metric tonnes. Robusta, Rasthali, Poovan and Red Bananas are the popular banana varieties found here.
With a total banana production of 3387.51 thousand metric tonnes, Uttar Pradesh holds a major place. The banana varieties found in the state are Dwarf Cavendish and Robusta.
Gujarat is known for the Dwarf Cavendish bananas in India. It has a total banana production of 3907.21 thousand metric tonnes.
With a total area under cultivation of 128.76 thousand hectares, Karnataka produced 3367.67 thousand metric tonnes banana. Robusta, Rasthali & Ney Poovan are some popular varieties grown in the state.
Madhya Pradesh, famous for growing Dwarf Cavendish banana variety, produced 2025.46 thousand metric tonnes banana. Burhanpur district is a major banana growing region in the state.
Bihar is a major banana growing state in India with a total production of 1612.56 thousand metric tonnes. Rasthali, Dwarf Cavendish, Karpuravalli and Red Bananas are the popular varieties.
The total production of bananas in West Bengal was 1116.41 thousand metric tonnes. Dwarf Cavendish, Udhayam and Kaveri Haritha are some of the major banana varieties of the state.
With a production of 909.83 thousand metric tonnes bananas, Assam is known for banana varieties like Dwarf Cavendish and Robusta.
