The journey of Kartar tractors started with manufacturing chain buckets in 1952 at Bhadson, Patiala in Punjab. Gradually, the company started producing seed drills in 1967, and then self-propelled combine harvesters in 1974. The commercial journey of the company started with the establishment of Kartar Agro Industries Private Limited in 1975.

The company started manufacturing tractors in 2016, when Kartar Tractors Private Ltd was incorporated.

Today, it is a major player in the agriculture equipment industry, particularly harvesters, and tractor industry. The company has presence in 24 countries including India.
