List of Schemes Under Green Revolution - Krishonnati Yojana
Green Revolution Krishonnati Yojana launched in 2016-17 clubs several agricultural schemes under one umbrella scheme. The Yojana comprises of 11 Schemes/ Mission. These include National Food Security Mission, National Mission for Sustainable Agriculture, and National e-Governance Plan, among others.

Introduction

The Green Revolution - Krishonnati Yojana is a comprehensive umbrella scheme launched by the Government of India to transform the agricultural landscape of the country. It aims to promote sustainable agricultural practices, increase farmers' income, enhance productivity, and ensure food security. The scheme comprises various sub-schemes, each focusing on a specific aspect of agriculture or allied sectors.

National Food Security Mission (NFSM)

Krishonnati Yojana - National Food Security Mission

National Food Security Mission (NFSM) was launched in October 2007 as a Centrally Sponsored Scheme. The key objectives of the scheme are:

  • Enhance food security by promoting the cultivation of rice, wheat, pulses, and coarse cereals.
  • Boost productivity and ensure the availability of sufficient food grains.
  • The NFSM focuses on 625 districts across 29 states to achieve its objectives, employing strategic approaches to increase agricultural production and productivity.

Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH)

Krishonnati Yojana - Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture

MIDH is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme that focuses on the holistic development of the horticulture sector. An important component is the National Horticulture Mission. The key objectives are:

  • Promote an integrated approach to the development of the horticulture sector, covering fruits, vegetables, spices, flowers, aromatic plants, and coconut cultivation.
  • Enhance horticultural production, post-harvest management, processing, and marketing to increase farmers' income.
  • MIDH aims to ensure the comprehensive growth of the horticulture sector by leveraging technology and innovation.

National Mission for Sustainable Agriculture (NMSA)

The NMSA was launched in the year 2014-15 to achieve the goal of sustainable agriculture in India. The key features are:

  • Promote climate-resilient agricultural practices and integrated farming systems for sustainable agriculture.
  • Encourage the efficient use of resources like water and energy and promote soil health management.
  • The NMSA strives to foster sustainable agriculture and improve the overall well-being of farmers by enhancing productivity and reducing environmental impact.

National Mission on Agricultural Extension and Technology (NMAET)

The NMAET was launched in the year 2014-15 to strengthen the agriculture extension services with an aim to deliver appropriate technology. The key features are:

  • Enhance the agricultural extension system by providing technical support and information to farmers.
  • Promote the adoption of modern agricultural practices, technologies, and innovations.
  • NMAET focuses on strengthening agricultural extension services to facilitate the transfer of knowledge and technology to farmers, aiding them in making informed decisions.

Sub-Mission on Agriculture Mechanisation (SMAM)

The SMAM focuses on achieving inclusive growth of farm mechanisation by providing subsidies on tractors and implements. The key features of the scheme are:

  • Encourage the adoption of modern agricultural equipment and machines to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Reduce the drudgery of labour-intensive agricultural activities through mechanisation.
  • SMAM emphasises the adoption of farm machinery to expedite agricultural operations and minimise manual labour.
  • Under this scheme a tractor subsidy of 50% is given to farmers.

Sub-Mission on Seeds and Planting Material (SMSP)

The SMSP scheme covers the entire seed production chain and encourages the farmers to undertake the production of seeds like pulses, oilseeds, green manure crops, and fodder. The key features are:

  • Ensure the availability of quality seeds and planting material to farmers.
  • Promote seed replacement and the use of high-yielding varieties to increase crop productivity.
  • SMSP focuses on enhancing farmers' access to high-quality seeds and planting materials, which is critical for improving crop yield and quality.

Sub-Mission on Plant Protection and Plant Quarantine (SMPPQ)

The SMPPQ seeks to promote Integrated Pest Management and judicious use of pesticides with an aim to minimize the loss of crops in terms of yield and productivity. The key features are:

  • Control and manage crop pests, diseases, and weeds to safeguard crop yield and quality.
  • Enhance awareness about plant protection measures and promote integrated pest management practices.
  • SMPPQ emphasises the importance of plant protection and quarantine measures to ensure a healthy crop yield and minimise losses due to pests and diseases.

Integrated Scheme on Agriculture Census, Economics and Statistics (ISACES)

The ISACES scheme objective is to conduct an agricultural census, analyse the cost of cultivation for major crops, and conduct research studies on the agro-economic challenges faced by the country.

  • Conduct timely and accurate agricultural censuses and surveys to collect agricultural data and statistics.
  • Utilise this data for policy formulation, planning, and monitoring the progress of various agricultural schemes.
  • ISACES aims to improve data collection and analysis in agriculture to make informed policy decisions and drive the growth of the sector.

Integrated Scheme on Agricultural Cooperation (ISAC)

ISAC is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme which was formed by merging two erstwhile schemes namely, Central Sector Scheme for Cooperative Education and Training and Restructured Central Sector Scheme for Assistance to NCDC Programmes for Development of Cooperatives. The key features are:

  • Promote farmer cooperatives and self-help groups to enhance the bargaining power of farmers.
  • Facilitate access to credit, technology, and marketing opportunities for small and marginal farmers.
  • ISAC encourages collective efforts among farmers to ensure their welfare and improve their financial, social, and economic conditions.

Integrated Scheme on Agricultural Marketing (ISAM)

The ISAM seeks to promote agri-marketing by creating agribusiness infrastructure. The key objectives are:

  • Strengthen agricultural marketing infrastructure, including market yards, storage facilities, and cold chains.

  • ISAM focuses on modernising marketing infrastructure and streamlining marketing practices to benefit farmers and consumers.

National e-Governance Plan (NeGP)

The NeGP (National e-Governance Plan) seeks to prioritize farmers by enhancing access to information in agricultural programs. Its main objectives include:

  • Building upon, improving, and integrating the current ICT initiatives at both the central and state levels.
  • Enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of programs by providing farmers with timely and pertinent information to boost agricultural productivity.
  • Concentrating on the development and reinforcement of production infrastructure, cost reduction in production, and the marketing of agricultural and allied products.
