Brief History of Eicher Tractors

The company, also known as Eicher Goodearth, was founded in the late 1930s by two brothers, Albert and Josef, in a small town in Munich, Germany. The company started its tractor production in India in 1959.

The company manufactured its first tractor with a Deutz diesel engine developing 20 HP output. The first tractor was made to mark the company's presence in the market with an engine welded on the frame and other add-ons.

Later, in post-World War II, there was a massive demand for post-world war machines from 1948 onwards. At that time, the company manufactured and launched its first tractor, named Eicher ED 16/1, powered by an air-cooled diesel engine giving 16 HP output.
