Eicher Tractors: A Brief History

Eicher came into existence in the 1930s with the name Eicher Goodearth. Two brothers, Albert and Joseph Eicher, founded the company in a small town in Munich, Germany. The company manufactured its first tractor with a Deutz diesel engine providing 20 HP power output. From 1952 to 57, the company imported and sold around 1500 tractor units in India. In 1959, the brand built its first indigenous tractor in its Faridabad plant. In 1998, Eicher opened its largest tractor plant in India, which is located in Mandideep, Madhya Pradesh. In 2005, TAFE, Tractor and Farm Equipment Limited Group acquired the Eicher tractor company. Currently, Siddhartha Lal is the managing director and CEO of Eicher Motors Pvt. Ltd.
