The brand was formed in the 1960s as a tractor manufacturing company, which is now popularly known as Gromax Agri Equipment Ltd. Currently, the company offers one Hindustan tractor in India, Hindustan 60.

Brief History of Hindustan Tractors

The company was founded in 1959 in Vadodara, Gujarat. In the year 1963, the firm formed a partnership with Motokov-Praha (Zetor) of Czechoslovakia and changed its name to Tractor & Bulldozers Limited. In 1967 the company again changed its name to Hindustan Tractors Pvt. Ltd. The Gujarat government purchased the company from Gujarat Agro under a national initiative in 1972 and renamed it Gujarat Tractor Corporation Limited. In 1999, the Mahindra & Mahindra Group purchased a 51% share in the company, renaming it to Mahindra Gujarat Tractors Ltd. (MGTL). In 2017, Mahindra renamed the company, which is now known as Gromax Agri Equipment Ltd.
