PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana is a new scheme in the agricultural sector of India. This scheme aims to enhance agricultural productivity, improve irrigation facilities, facilitate long-term and short-term credit for farmers and make the industry climate resilient. This scheme is likely to benefit 1.7 crore farmers, thus providing financial security and modern solutions to them, particularly in low-productivity districts of agriculture.
The main objectives of PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana are:
Building Rural Prosperity and Resilience: The ‘Rural Prosperity and Resilience’ programme will be launched in partnership with states, to address under-employment in agriculture through skilling, investment, technology, and invigorating the rural economy. The programme will focus on rural women, young farmers, rural youth, marginal and small farmers, and landless families. In Phase-1, 100 developing agri-districts will be covered.
Aatmanirbharta in Pulses: A 6-year “Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses” will be launched with a special focus on Tur, Urad and Masoor. The Mission will emphasize on development and commercial availability of climate resilient seeds; enhancing protein content; increasing productivity; improving post-harvest storage and management and assuring remunerative prices for farmers.
Comprehensive Programme for Vegetables & Fruits: This programme will promote fruit & vegetables production, efficient supply, processing, and remunerative prices for farmers.
Grameen Credit Score: Public Sector Banks will develop ‘Grameen Credit Score’ framework to serve the credit needs of SHG members and people in rural areas.
