Eicher Tractors Journey through the Years 1948-2026

In 1948, Goodearth Company was established to sell and service imported tractors in India. They imported and sold around 1,500 tractors between 1952 and 1957. In 1958, Eicher Tractor Corporation of India Ltd. was founded in collaboration with Eicher Tractor of Germany.

Additionally, the company marked a significant achievement in 1959 by manufacturing the first indigenous Eicher tractor at its Faridabad factory. The company was renamed Eicher Tractors India Ltd. in 1960 and achieved indigenisation in 1965-75.

At present, TMTL, a wholly owned subsidiary of TAFE, comprises three manufacturing divisions. In 2005, TAFE acquired the Tractors, Engines, and Transmissions division of Eicher Motors Ltd. Eicher tractors are manufactured in the TMTL’s Tractors Division at Mandideep near Bhopal. In 2022, it launched the Prima G3 range of tractors to offer progressive technology, premium styling and comfort to new-generation farmers. Eicher achieved the milestone of manufacturing 1 million tractors in early 2025.
