Kartar Tractors began manufacturing chain buckets in 1952 at Bhadson, Patiala, in Punjab. Later, they manufactured seed drills in 1967 and then self-propelled combine harvesters in 1974. They started their commercial journey with the establishment of Kartar Agro Industries Private Limited in 1975. The company began manufacturing tractors in 2016, following the establishment of Kartar Tractors Private Ltd.

Today, it is a major player in the agriculture equipment industry, particularly in Kartar harvesters and the tractor industry. The company has a presence in 24 countries, including India.
